Terms of use
Last updated 20 October 2026
Draft. This is template text. It has not yet been reviewed by a South African attorney and should not be relied on before launch.
These terms of use ("Terms") govern access to and use of Ticketlounge, the website and services that let event organisers list and sell tickets to concerts, sports fixtures, theatre shows and festivals ("Events"), and let members of the public buy tickets to those Events. By browsing Ticketlounge, buying a ticket, or registering an organiser account, you agree to these Terms.
1. Key terms
An "Organiser" is a person or business that registers an account to create and sell tickets to an Event on Ticketlounge. A "Buyer" is anyone who purchases or holds a ticket. Where we refer to "Ticketlounge", "we" or "us", we mean the operator of this platform.
2. Ticketlounge's role
Ticketlounge is a ticketing marketplace. We provide the platform, payment processing, e-ticket delivery and door-scanning tools that let organisers sell tickets and buyers buy them. Organisers are solely responsible for their Events. Unless we say otherwise, Ticketlounge is not the organiser of any Event listed on the platform.
3. Organiser accounts and obligations
Organisers register for their own account and are responsible for the accuracy of their Event listings, including dates, times, venues, pricing and ticket types and quantities. New Events are reviewed by the Ticketlounge team before they go live, and we may decline or remove a listing that breaches these Terms or the law. Organisers must:
- provide accurate, up-to-date information about their Event and organisation;
- honour every valid ticket sold for their Event;
- ensure their Event is lawful and holds any licences, permits or approvals it needs; and
- take responsibility for delivering the Event as advertised.
4. Buying tickets
You don't need an account to buy a ticket. Guest checkout requires your name, email address and mobile number, which we use to deliver your e-ticket and to communicate with you about your order. Ticket prices are set by the organiser. Buyers also pay a service fee on each ticket (see "Fees" below), shown in full before you pay.
5. Your ticket and entry to events
Every ticket carries a unique QR code and is delivered by email (and by SMS if you choose it at checkout), and is available as a PDF or on your phone. Each QR code can only be scanned once; whoever presents a valid, unscanned ticket first will be admitted, so keep your ticket secure and don't share your QR code publicly. You may not resell a ticket for more than its face value, or in a way that breaches the organiser's stated conditions for that Event.
6. Fees
Organisers pay Ticketlounge a commission of 5% of the face value of each ticket sold, deducted from their sales proceeds. This rate may change from time to time; the applicable rate is always shown in the organiser portal. Buyers pay a service fee per ticket in addition to the ticket price (currently R7.50); this fee may also change and is always shown in full before you complete payment.
7. Payments and payouts
Payments are processed securely through Yoco, a South African payment gateway, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Ticketlounge never stores your card numbers. After an Event has taken place, we pay the organiser's balance (ticket sales, less our commission and any refunds) by EFT to the organiser's South African bank account. Organisers can track their sales, balance and payouts in their organiser portal.
8. Event changes, postponements and cancellations
If an Event is cancelled, materially changed or postponed, refunds and alternative arrangements are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy.
9. Prohibited conduct
You may not use Ticketlounge to:
- create fraudulent, misleading or unauthorised Event listings;
- attempt to circumvent fees owed to Ticketlounge;
- resell tickets above face value or otherwise breach an organiser's stated resale conditions;
- use bots or other automated means to purchase tickets;
- duplicate, forge or share a QR code to gain unauthorised entry to an Event; or
- engage in unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent or harmful conduct on the platform.
10. Intellectual property
The Ticketlounge name, logo, website and platform are owned by or licensed to us and may not be used without our permission. Organisers retain ownership of the content (such as images and descriptions) they upload, but grant Ticketlounge a licence to display it in connection with their Event listing.
11. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ticketlounge provides the platform "as is" and is not liable for the conduct, content, quality, safety or delivery of any Event listed by an organiser, who is solely responsible for their Event. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under South African law.
12. Consumer Protection Act
Where the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 applies to a transaction on Ticketlounge, nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any right you have under that Act.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, is used fraudulently, or where required by law.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, and continuing to use Ticketlounge after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
